Director/Choreographer/Devisor/Writer
My artistry is largely centered around the creation and evolution of new works, especially physical theater. My original text/movement/music has been performed in pieces by Atlantic Theater, MetaPhys-Ed, and other devised processes.
As a director and writer, I am especially interested in classic/public domain texts, and turning them on their heads for contemporary audiences.
I’ve had two of my one-act plays published by Young Playwrights Inc., and I’ve produced two original works while studying at NYU.
As a maker, I am largely influenced by the postmodern movement, queered narrative/structure, and makers such as Sarah Ruhl, Edward Albee, Faye Driscoll, and Alice Birch.
The Life of By Herself.pdf
The Life of By Herself.pdf is a swirling, time-bending, hybrid theatrical piece devised from a ten chapter segment of the autobiography of St. Teresa of Avila. Through examining St. Teresa’s life through a queered lens, and by intertwining her autobiography with my own, the piece examines the intersections of queerness, Catholicism, and eroticism. How does the Church shape views on the physical body, especially for those with queered impulses? Does love in its purest form always involve pain for the lover? Are some of us born bad? The Life of By Herself.pdf uses contact improvisation, song, screens, and music by The Books as means of answering these questions.
The Life of By Herself.pdf was first produced by the Experimental Theater Wing in December 2024. The piece is currently being expanded/revised - please use the contact form for inquiries.
